A group of MMBRA’s youth took full advantage of a free Saturday night by participating in what will now be addressed as Road trip 2022 or RT22. The crew left complex 10/30 on Saturday Feb 27th at 4:30 for the picturesque journey to the eastern townships to see Bishop’s take on Concordia, woman game at 6 and the men’s at 8. There were two modes of transportation. Max Audette who was transporting Francois “Ron” Brouilette in the shot gun seat alone with the eager young minds of, Jeanne Gaumont, Jess Mabano, Charles Parent-Spione, and Robert Shaul.  Greg’s crew had DJ Jessy Junior Gatete, Anita Quintana, Chanez Saheb and Matthew Couto. Max’s crew was first to arrive at the jump of point due to the fact that even though Jessy Junior has the grades to get into Medical school, his understanding of the Universe is such that, conspiracy theory or not, the World does not orbit the sun, but that of the world revolves around himself, which leads him to the believe that no matter what time he arrives for the 4pm pick up, this could mean 4:05 or even 4:10, the world is on pause.

Greg’s car was first to leave 10/30, crews control was set at a blistering 103km/h,  the conversation was such of games, plays, rules, challenges etc. Max’s Van which left later soon caught up, and Greg followed, and commented on Max’s uncanny ability to use the entire lane when driving, making sure that his tires touched dotted line to solid white, rinse and repeat, as he undoubtedly was keeping eye contact while driving with those in the back of the car.

Everyone arrived safe in Lennoxvegas just as the woman’s game began. MMBRA’s Shelly Quintos and Chris Gurunlian were part of this crew. The youth piled out of the vans and entered the sporting area like the start of reservoir dogs.  Just replace the sunglasses with Covid Masks.

Waiting for them where the businesses best, two National Supervisors in the form of Pierre Marion and Alfie Paoletti. Supervisors were surrounded immediately and the bombardment of learning, knowledge and questions began.

Over the next four hours the next generation where able to sit, learn, watch, participate in pre and post games meetings, sit in on discussions, ask questions, and watch video footage where plays were dissected from all angles, it was great to see the interest the Padawans had. Please feel free to google Padawan for those who need further education into the word. After the game and a quick rinse, where the pink Himalayan salt body wash was taken full advantage of,  both crews, and supervisors departed and went for a beverage to cap off the night with stories and laughs.

Departure was after midnight and the trip home held further discussions on the plays of the night.  This was in my opinion a truly great,  memorable experience. It is wonderful to see that those behind us have the passion and interest to keep MMBRA strong. All supervisor and crews take our hats off to those who willingly gave up their time to take an active role in their own development. Let’s hope we can do it again soon, or at least have a RT23!!
