MMBRA Officials at TERA

Six referees from the Metropolitan Montreal Basketball Referee Association (MMBRA) recently attended The Elite Referee Academy (TERA), an officials training camp in Toronto.

The camp offers an immersive experience, including classroom sessions, video analysis, and on-court evaluations. The participants were trained by top referees from leagues like the CEBL, USports, and experienced FIBA officials. They also had the opportunity to officiate high-caliber games, with teams ranging from U19 to U35 levels. In addition, the camp included workshops on racial bias in officiating, equity and diversity, and advanced play-calling techniques.

The six MMBRA officials who attended the camp this year demonstrated a strong commitment to improving their officiating abilities and bringing those skills back to the Montreal basketball community. Each official underwent training sessions that covered everything from the latest FIBA officiating techniques to advanced game management strategies. In addition to on-court officiating, they participated in workshops focused on personal development, leadership, and effective communication with players and coaches.

Their participation in TERA further solidifies MMBRA’s commitment to maintaining high officiating standards. By attending such events, these officials not only advance their individual skills but also contribute to the overall growth of refereeing in the Montreal area.
