On Saturday, January 18th, MMBRA hosted its second rookie course of the season at Lucien-Pagé high school, proudly welcoming 33 new recruits to the MMBRA family.
The day was packed with engaging sessions that combined classroom learning with hands-on practice. Participants dove into the rulebook, participated in discussions, and honed their skills during the on-court session. Led by our experienced instructors, Adam Bradshaw, François Brouillette, Al Mcinnis, Anita Quintana, Chanez Saheb, Robert Shaul, and Shawn Taylor, the course offered invaluable insights to help these rookies build confidence and lay the groundwork for success as basketball officials.
This remarkable turnout highlights the growing interest in basketball officiating. As the sport continues to grow, the need for dedicated officials becomes ever more crucial, and we're thrilled to see so many stepping up to the challenge.
A special thank-you goes out to the Pagé Basketball program for their incredible support in making this event possible. They graciously provided us with gym and classroom space, as well as organized a mini girls exhibition game against Laval, giving our rookies an opportunity to put their training into practice.
To our new recruits: Welcome to the MMBRA family! We can’t wait to see your progress and contributions on the court.
For those who missed the opportunity, MMBRA will be hosting its next rookie class in the spring (date TBD). Interested individuals can sign up using the following link: Become an Official.
