June 27–29, 2025 — Montreal, QC

For the first time ever, the Provincial Officiating Committee (CPA) hosted its 2-person and 3-person referee development camps side-by-side during the same weekend. The camps were held in conjunction with the Express Tournament from June 27 to 29, creating an energetic and educational atmosphere for all involved.
Both camps aimed to provide officials with real-time experience, constructive feedback, and guidance from experienced supervisors—all within a competitive, fast-paced tournament setting. With games taking place across multiple venues and officiated by camp participants, each official had the opportunity to learn, adapt, and grow with every whistle.
2-Person Officials Camp
Seven officials from MMBRA took part in the 2-person camp:
John Dong
Gilles Eric Fotso
Peter Gradys
Bridget Mbaya
Christophe Ouba
Sheradyne Prosper
Evan Sveistrup
These officials were guided through the fundamentals of teamwork, coverage, positioning, and game control. The weekend served as a key step in their officiating development.
3-Person Officials Camp
On the 3-person side, nine MMBRA officials took part in the advanced mechanics training:
Lilianne Benoit
Matthew Couto
Chaymae Dhabi
Jamall Fisher
Isaiah Hines
Saman Jalali
Shaun Pearce
Anita Quintana
Josh Sveistrup
This group worked on the complexities of 3-person officiating, including rotation, primary coverage areas, and high-level communication skills—important tools for those aiming to work elite-level games.
MMBRA Supervisors on Site
The success of both camps was made possible thanks to the dedication and mentorship of MMBRA supervisors, who generously gave their time to provide feedback, lead debriefs, and support officials on and off the court. Supervisors from MMBRA included:
Shawn Alleyne
Amy Bakos
François Brouillette
Cory Connors
Danny Raschella
Jessy Gatete
Varouj Gurunlian
Mike Homsy
Al Mcinnis
Patrick Mischook
Pierre Marion
Yannick Payette
Greg Southward
Frederique Lorrain
Their presence played a vital role in the learning environment, ensuring that each official walked away with practical insights and confidence.
Beyond the whistles and evaluations, the weekend also offered a chance to build camaraderie off the court. On Saturday night, after the last games of the day, all camp officials and supervisors gathered for a social evening. It was a chance to relax, connect, and share stories from the day's games in a more informal setting. The event added a special sense of community and strengthened the relationships that make officiating more than just a job—it’s a shared journey.
The CPA’s decision to host both camps simultaneously proved to be a great success, encouraging cross-learning and peer support between officials at various levels of their officiating careers. With strong participation and leadership from MMBRA, the future of officiating in Quebec continues to look bright.
