TERA Camp Highlights
The 2025 TERA camp was a comprehensive blend of theory and real-world practice. Over three days, participants experienced:
Opening sessions on the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion in officiating.
Workshops on racial bias, effective communication, and game preparedness.
Key sessions such as play-calling strategy led by an experienced NBA official, and deep dives into in-game adjustments and secondary coverage mechanisms.
A keynote address by Ronnie Nunn, legendary NBA official and long-time Director of Officials, offering insights drawn from his storied career in the league and in high‑performance training.
In the Camp Final
MMBRA was proudly represented at the camp’s closing game. The final contest featured three of our officials on the crew:
Shawn Alleyne
François Loignon
Isaiah Hines
Their selection underscores MMBRA’s commitment to excellence and the high level of trust placed in our officials.

Why TERA Matters
TERA was born from a vision to promote officiating excellence through an inclusive lens, working closely with diverse cultural, faith‑based, and LGBTQ+ communities across Canada. The program reflects deliberate engagement with officials serving multicultural tournaments and leagues, ensuring referees are equipped not only with mechanical proficiency but also with cultural competence.
Today, many TERA alumni have advanced to officiate in top tiers of basketball—ranging from FIBA to U Sports, OUA, CEBL, BSL, and the OSBA. Our group’s participation is a stepping-stone toward similar pathways and opportunities in elite competition.
What’s Next for MMBRA Officials
Participation in TERA has already proven transformational for the ten attending officials. Looking ahead:
We anticipate their skillsets will benefit local leagues and tournaments in Montréal and beyond.
We encourage other officials interested in professional growth to consider applying for future TERA camps.
MMBRA remains dedicated to supporting all our officials in accessing high-level development opportunities.
