Throughout their careers, basketball officials can be recognized for their contributions to the sport at the provincial and national levels. The Canada Basketball Officials Commission (CBOC), formerly known as the Canadian Association of Basketball Officials (CABO), was established in November 2015 to strengthen alignment among officials within Canada Basketball.
As a committee under the auspices of Canada Basketball, the CBOC promotes and advocates for a transparent, accountable and consistent governance structure for the organization, administration, growth and development of basketball officiating and officials across the country.
At the national level, the CBOC recognizes officials and contributors through three major awards: the CBOC Executive Award of Merit, the John A. (Wink) Willox Award and the Ted Earley Memorial Award. At the provincial level, the Comité Provincial d’Arbitrage (CPA) presents the Prix Gilles Brière for long-term contributions to officiating in Quebec. This section also celebrates MMBRA officials who have been inducted into the CCAA Hall of Fame.

CBOC EXECUTIVE AWARD OF MERIT
The CBOC Executive Award of Merit recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the Canada Basketball Officials Commission and the development of basketball officiating in Canada.
The John A. (Wink) Willox Award recognizes officials who demonstrate strong on-court performance by local standards and a long-standing commitment to the basketball community. Recipients are also recognized for their service to basketball organizations and contributions in administrative roles. Each province may select one candidate in a given year.
The Ted Earley Memorial Award is the CBOC’s highest honour. It recognizes officials with an outstanding record on the court, including national and international experience, and a significant history of service, leadership, administration and education within the basketball community. A maximum of one nominee may receive the award each year.
Presented by the Comité Provincial d’Arbitrage (CPA), the Prix Gilles Brière recognizes long-term contributions to basketball officiating and the development of officials in Quebec.
The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Hall of Fame honours individuals who have made a lasting impact on collegiate sport in Canada. This section recognizes the two MMBRA officials who have been inducted into the CCAA Hall of Fame.
