The Metropolitan Montreal Basketball Referees Association (MMBRA) is proud to announce the officials who have been promoted for the upcoming 2025-2026 basketball season. These promotions represent the hard work, dedication, and continual development of our officials as they take the next step in their officiating careers.

U Sports Promotions
MMBRA officials Eric Lam and Julia Shebitchenko have been promoted to U Sports, the highest level of university basketball in Canada. The U Sports regular season officially tips off on November 6th, running until the end of February. Eric and Julia will make their U Sports debuts the weekend of October 3-5 at the UQAM pre-season tournament in downtown Montreal.

CCAA Promotions
Congratulations to Jamall Fisher, François Loignon, and Shaun Pearce, who have been promoted to officiate at the CCAA College Division 1 level this season. This is a key milestone for officials, as Division 1 is where referees begin working with three-person mechanics, an important step in their professional development. The D1 regular season begins on October 17th and will conclude with the RSEQ D1 Provincial Championship Weekend, hosted March 6-8 at Collège Montmorency in Laval. The trio will get their first pre-season action at the women’s D1 tournament hosted at Collège Édouard-Montpetit in Longueuil the weekend of October 3-5.

At the College Division 2 (RSEQ regional level), John Dong and Sheradyne Prosper have earned their promotions for the 2025-2026 season. The D2 season will also begin on October 17th, with games running through to the end of March.
We congratulate all seven officials on their well-deserved promotions and look forward to seeing them represent the MMBRA at their new levels this season!
