MMBRA referees gathered this week for the association’s Annual General Meeting, bringing together officials from across Montreal to celebrate another successful basketball season and recognize the achievements of members who made a lasting impact throughout the year.

The evening featured season reflections, community recognition, and the presentation of MMBRA’s annual officiating awards — honouring officials who demonstrated excellence, professionalism, leadership, and dedication to the game during the 2025–2026 season.

Harry Hus Official of the Year

The 2026 Harry Hus Official of the Year Award was presented to Carlo Del Bosco for his outstanding contributions to basketball officiating and his continued commitment to the Montreal basketball community.

A highly respected veteran official, Carlo spent 25 years officiating at the U SPORTS level and built an impressive resume that included assignments at some of Canada’s highest levels of competition. Throughout his career, he officiated multiple major championships, including the Canada Games, CCAA Men’s and Women’s National Championships, and a U SPORTS Women’s National Championship.

Even after decades of experience at the national level, Carlo remains actively involved with MMBRA today, continuing to mentor, support, and officiate within the association. His longevity, professionalism, and passion for the game have made him a respected presence among officials across multiple generations.

The Harry Hus Official of the Year Award is presented annually to the official who best exemplifies excellence in officiating throughout the season. The award is named after Harry Hus, a long-time MMBRA referee whose impact on basketball officiating in Montreal has earned him legendary status within the association.

Nickolas Sidorenko Rookie of the Year

The 2026 Nickolas Sidorenko Rookie of the Year Award was presented to Kailey Tamara Bundalian following an exceptional first season with MMBRA.

Kailey joined the association in September as part of MMBRA’s rookie class, which welcomed 34 new recruits at the beginning of the season. From the outset, she distinguished herself through her professionalism, strong court presence, and confident decision-making abilities.

As the season progressed, Kailey quickly earned the trust of evaluators and assignors through her consistency and willingness to learn. Her development throughout the year culminated in a Bronze Medal game assignment at the Bantam Division 3 Boys Provincial Championship — an impressive accomplishment for a first-year official and a reflection of the growth she demonstrated throughout the season.

MMBRA congratulates Kailey on an outstanding rookie campaign and looks forward to seeing her continue to develop within the officiating community in the years ahead.

The Nickolas Sidorenko Rookie of the Year Award is presented annually to the association’s most outstanding first-year official. The award is named in memory of Nickolas Sidorenko, an MMBRA official who was taken far too young. Nick’s determination, positivity, and courage in overcoming a heart defect continue to inspire members throughout the association. His spirit and passion for life left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him, and his legacy remains an important part of the MMBRA community today. He truly represented the best in all of us and will never be forgotten.

Celebrating Another Season of Growth

This year’s Annual General Meeting also served as an opportunity for officials to reconnect following another busy season of basketball across Montreal. From new officials entering the association for the first time to veteran referees continuing decades-long careers, the evening highlighted the strong sense of community that continues to define MMBRA.

The association would like to thank all officials, evaluators, assignors, clinicians, and volunteers who contributed throughout the 2025–2026 season and helped support the continued development of basketball officiating in Montreal.
