MMBRA Announces September 2025 Recruitment Clinic

The Metropolitan Montreal Basketball Referees Association (MMBRA) is excited to announce its 2025 Recruitment Clinic, the first step for those interested in beginning their basketball officiating journey with us.

This year’s clinic will take place over two full days:

📅 Saturday, September 6th & Sunday, September 7th, 2025

🕘 9:00am – 4:00pm (Registration from 8:30am – 8:55am)

📍 Dalbé-Viau High School, 740 Rue Esther-Blondin, Lachine, QC H8S 1P1

(Entrance at the back of the building)

Attendance on both days is mandatory to complete the clinic.

What to Expect

The clinic will combine classroom learning and on-court training to teach the fundamentals of basketball officiating, including:

• Introduction to MMBRA and its instructors

• Overview of the FIBA rulebook, interpretations, and casebook

• Floor mechanics, positioning, and signals

• Practical gym sessions

• Guidance on the National Officials Certification Program (NOCP) – Level 0

Participants will also be provided with a new whistle and will need to bring:

• Notebook and pen

• Athletic attire (shorts/t-shirt) and clean black running shoes

• Access to the FIBA rulebook, interpretations, and casebook (digital copy recommended)

Selection Tournament

Following the clinic, all participants must take part in our mandatory selection tournament on:

📅 October 3rd – 5th, 2025

This event will give you the chance to apply what you’ve learned under game conditions. Successful candidates will officially join MMBRA and receive their official’s shirt.

Join Our Annual “Bull Session”

Clinic participants are also encouraged to attend our Annual Pre-Season Bull Session on:

📅 Saturday, September 13th, 2025 – 8:30am start

This is a great opportunity to meet MMBRA’s current officials and connect with our community.

Registration & Payment

The cost of the clinic is $175. Space is limited to 35–40 participants, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
