For the first time in its history, the Metropolitan Montreal Basketball Referees Association (MMBRA) is proud to host a Women Officials Fitness Event dedicated exclusively to its women officials. This groundbreaking initiative highlights MMBRA’s ongoing commitment to supporting the growth, health, and empowerment of its members on and off the court.
The event, titled “Start. Develop. Fitness.”, will take place on Saturday, November 1st at 1:00 PM at Donnybrook Boxing in the West Island. In collaboration with Donnybrook’s elite trainers, this session is designed to inspire women officials to build strength, resilience, and confidence while embracing the importance of physical fitness as part of their officiating journey.
Leading the event will be Coach Emerson Turnier and professional boxer Jessica “The Cobra” Camara, two renowned figures in the Montreal fitness and boxing community. Together, they will bring their expertise, energy, and motivation to deliver an unforgettable experience that blends fitness training with empowerment.
This initiative would not have been possible without the vision and leadership of Anita Quintana, MMBRA’s Director of Learning & Development, who spearheaded the project. Her goal: to create a dedicated space where MMBRA’s women officials can come together, build camaraderie, and celebrate the unique strengths they bring to the game.
MMBRA continues to evolve by recognizing the importance of inclusivity and support for all its members. The Women Officials Fitness Event marks an exciting step forward, not only in celebrating the contributions of women officials but also in investing in their long-term success and well-being.
