Professional basketball is back in Canada.
The Canadian Elite Basketball League officially tipped off its 2026 season on May 10th, marking the beginning of another summer of professional basketball across the country. Since its launch in 2019, the CEBL has quickly established itself as one of Canada’s premier basketball leagues, showcasing top Canadian talent while continuing to grow the game nationwide.
As the league continues to expand, MMBRA officials remain an important part of the action on the national stage.
The Metropolitan Montreal Basketball Referees Association is proud to recognize seven members who will be returning to the CEBL this season:
Max Audette — Year 7
Jayson Stiell — Year 7
François Brouillette — Year 5
Yannick Payette — Year 4
Greg Southward — Year 4
Mike Homsy — Referee Coach
Pierre Marion — Referee Coach
Their continued presence in the league reflects years of dedication, professionalism, and commitment to officiating at the highest levels of Canadian basketball. From on-court officials to referee coaches helping guide and develop crews throughout the season, MMBRA representation within the CEBL continues to demonstrate the strength of officiating development in Montreal and Quebec.
The Montreal Alliance will open its home schedule on Friday, May 15th at 7:30 PM, welcoming the Scarborough Shooting Stars to Montreal for the team’s home opener.
With another exciting season underway, MMBRA is proud to see its officials continue contributing to the growth of professional basketball in Canada.
We wish all seven officials the best of luck throughout the 2026 CEBL season.
