MMBRA Officials Selected for 2026 Canada Basketball National Championships

Each summer, the top young basketball talent from across the country gathers on one stage, representing their provinces with pride and competing for a national title. Behind every game is a team of officials trusted to manage the moment—ensuring the highest level of play is matched with the highest standard of officiating.
This August, three members of the Metropolitan Montreal Basketball Referees Association will step onto that national stage.
The Canada Basketball U15 and U17 National Championships are among the premier amateur sporting events in the country, bringing together the next generation of high-performance athletes from coast to coast.
The 2026 edition of the championships will take place from August 2–8, featuring provincial and territorial teams from across Canada.
The U15 & U17 Women’s Championships will be held in Sherbrooke, QC at Bishop's University
The U15 & U17 Men’s Championships will take place in Regina, SK at University of Regina
MMBRA is proud to announce that three of its officials have been selected to officiate at this year’s National Championships:
Julia Shebitchenko – U15 Women
François Loignon – U15 Men
Shaun Pearce – U17 Women
Their selection reflects a season of dedication, consistency, and commitment to the craft of officiating. Opportunities like Nationals are earned through performance and trust—and represent one of the highest levels of recognition for amateur officials in Canada.
In addition to MMBRA’s representatives, several other officials from Quebec have also been selected, highlighting the strength and depth of officiating across the province:

Rachid Dingao – U17 Women

All games from the 2026 National Championships will be streamed live on YouTube via the official Canada Basketball channel, giving fans and the basketball community the opportunity to follow along throughout the week.
The National Championships serve as more than just a competition—they are a key development environment for both athletes and officials. For those selected, it’s an opportunity to perform on a national stage, gain valuable experience, and continue progressing within the game.
